2010 Playlist

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Yeah, I’m well aware the first song on this playlist, the superb “Ask Amanda Palmer” from Akira the Don came out in 2009 as part of his John Hughes mixtape. But I don’t care because it’s that good of a song. Don’t believe me? Download it for yourself. This was the only song that made it onto my 2010 playlist that didn’t have a video or track at, but a download is much better anyway.

As for the rest? Longtime readers know the drill. 15 songs from the year arranged in an awesome playlist. Not necessarily the best songs of the year, no real ranking, but 15 songs that I loved from 2010 (or, again, 14 from 2010 and one from 2009)

Ben Folds covers Elliot Smith

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

as part of the Onion AV Club’s ongoing cover series. I saw Ben play this live at William and Mary back in 2003. Sounds a little weird with the keyboard instead of a normal piano, but hey, better quality than the shitty bootleg I’ve had for years.

My favorite albums of the decade

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Yeah, I know I’m a bit behind everyone else with these stupid lists, but I actually waited for the decade to end, rather than blowing my wad in July. I’ve got songs, too… but here they are, my top 20 favorite albums of the decade. Remember, this is a “favorite” list, not a “best” list. If it were to be a “best” list I’d put #2 at #1.

Oh, and my current #1, which should come as no surprise, sadly, probably wouldn’t even make a critical list… so here it is, my 20 favorite albums from 2000-2009.
