cover small 500

So here’s a tease for something Zoe and I have been working on. It’s not a full book– just a 10-page proposal– for a horror comic, which if picked up would be our follow-up to “Anyone But Virginia.” This is my first pass at colors (I’m not a colorist by any stretch of the imagination), but I’m fairly happy with how it’s shaping up.

I’ll be exhibiting at the Alternative Press Expo in San Francisco Oct. 12-13

This is my first show in a long, long time. And hopefully the first of many more to come. I’m pretty stoked to get back out there– I went to the Alternative Press Expo (APE) about 3 years ago and had a blast.

I’ll be hawking my wares, which includes “Assholes” #1-3, the “Anyone but Virginia” trade paperback, my art prints and other odds and ends. I’ll probably have some stuff to give away, too, so stop by and say hi!

Anyway, click the banner above for all the details. I’ll post a reminder closer to the show. Hope to see you in San Francisco!

About 20 years later… answers to the greatest cliffhanger of my childhood!

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

That is, what happens to Mario, Luigi and Princess Toadstool after the events of the “Super Mario Bros.” movie?

In conjunction with one of the cinematic masterpiece’s writers, someone’s making a comic book version of “Super Mario Bros. 2!”

As a kid I’d think this was awesome. As an adult this is a very clever way for a couple of illustrators to get their work out there and generate attention.

Breaking Bad print and updates

breaking bad flat final 500

So here’s a Breaking Bad print I made for Yael for her birthday. Which was in April, so I’m a bit late. But I guess the show’s starting up again so my timing is good?

Additionally, I completed a 6-page comic book pitch written by my friend Gregg Meller– he wrote, I drew. It’s a cyber-punk sci-fi thing and, if I may say so myself, is pretty cool. We’re off to publishers now, so fingers crossed on that one. It’s different than anything I’ve drawn in a while– space ships, alien cities, war, intergalactic rock bands. Either way, once I get Gregg’s approval, publisher or no publisher, I’m hoping to post the pages here. I think they look pretty awesome.

And, finally- I’m writing a bunch of stuff at the moment– one of which may be my next comic. Stay tuned…

Anyone But Virginia illustrator Zoe Crockett has just announced that she’ll be joining the Gestalt Comics team, one of Australia’s premiere comic book publishers. This, of course, is well-deserved excellent news. Announcements of future projects to come…

“Superfriends With Benefits” to screen at the LA Comedy Festival

Monday, April 22nd, 2013

“Superfriends with Benefits” is a Web series pilot I wrote with Andrew Allen, from a proposed series I created a couple years ago. I think I may have posted some of the comic book art here along the way.

That’s all I know for now, but the LA Comedy Festival runs throughout May. More details as I have them, but a big congrats to Stephen Parsey, who directed the pilot. Here’s hoping we get to make more…

(and, for you nerds playing along at home, this series takes place ten years after “Anyone But Virginia”/”Volcano Girl.” So there’s that. Nerd nerd nerd).
