Andrew’s screenplay: “PAM TAKES A SHIT

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

My cousin Andrew and I just finished the first draft (sixth, really) of my movie for next semester, tentatively titled “Near Mint.” Andrew is, in fact, a genius screenwriter who doesn’t even need me. Here is some of his work:

INT - TOLIET - DAY

PAM, mid twenties, takesĀ  a shit.

PAM
Argggh!!!

I couldn’t justify dropping $30 for this shirt at his concert, even though it’s a “limited edition,” whatever that means. Still, it’s a great shirt.

Last weekend I took the increasingly-less-sketchy Chinatown bus up to New York to see some friends and hawk copies of Assholes #2 with Mitch at MoCCA. (Read Mitch’s account of the show here). (Random aside: My sister’s best friend was in charge of the show).

Anyways, I was kind of discouraged walking around. There seems to be more and more sketchbooks and art comics, less and less actual comics. You know, the kinds with a narrative. I’m not busting on these art comics types. Just the opposite– these people are amazing artists and I’d drop cash in a heartbeat for their comics. You know, if they told a story. I can flip through a sketchbook in a matter of seconds, I want something more substantial.Ā  But that’s just me.

Anyways, here’s what I did buy. All of the following come with my highest recommendation: Read the rest of this entry »

See that pretty picture up there? That’s the work of the insanely talented Megan Prazenica. Somehow I tricked her into doing a 10 page comic with me, which I will be shopping around to publishers this weekend at MoCCA, a fairly awesome New York City-based small press comics show. Stop by if you’re in town.

So what’s the comic about? Read the rest of this entry »
