*What? You don’t remember? The semester I crammed into a week so I could study abroad without losing my daily comic strip– but completely sacrificing quality for quantity? But yeah, C.D. Mote, the ineffectual UMD President was replaced by his evil doppelganger, D.C. Mote. It’s a lot worse than it sounds– but I’m glad the folks at “Community” are “Liberal Crap” fans.

Hey all. Last summer I produced a very ambitious USC thesis project- Nick Musurca’s “The Films of Avi Krum,” along with Stephen Gibler and Drew McClellan. It’s fake documentary about a fat Jewish kid who, upon college graduation circa 2001, gets kidnapped by the North Koreans and is forced to direct propaganda films for Kim Jong Il. Starring Adam Herschman (“Accepted,” “Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay”), Tom Yi (“Bridesmaids,” Rabbi Chang in “Community”) and Dan Rather (“CBS Evening News”) as himself.

Anyway, the movie’s up on kickstarter so we can raise the funds to finish the movie. At the very least, check out the trailer (also on the kickstarter page) and read a bit about the movie. It’s really, really funny. One more time, here’s the kickstarter.

We’re pushing “Booty Seekers” back a bit (temporarily) to focus our energies on a horror book. Although, since I’m writing it, “horror/comedy” might be more specific. Tone-wise I’d describe it somewhere in the neighborhood of a Buffy or Maniac Mansion. (And speaking of Maniac Mansion- I just learned the spin-off TV show was created by Eugene Levy. Weird. I remember hating that show as a kid because it had very little to do with the computer game, but now I’m all kinds of curious).

Two of my USC shorts are playing next weekend at USC’s First Film festival. Basically, it’s a run down of all the thesis/upper-level movies in the past year or so.
